Media Meet is a weekly public affairs program which delves into the issues that are important to the people of the Upper Great Lakes Region. During the half-hour program, local media representatives, community leaders and special guests of regional, national, and international prominence, engage in intelligent discussion and candid debate regarding topics of local interest.

Media Meet, with its unbiased, quality public affairs reporting, has been a cornerstone of Public TV 13’s local production schedule for more than 20 years. Past guests of Media Meet have included astronaut Jerry Linenger, civil rights leader Roger Wilkins and five Michigan Supreme Court Justices.

Media Meet is produced by host Bill Hart and producer/director Bob Thomson.

Millions of dollars are hanging in the balance in a legal battle between local governments and big business over the “Dark Store” taxation theory in Michigan. This NMU documentary by NMU Professor Dwight Brady & journalism students is followed by a special edition of “Media Meet” to update and explore the issue.

A discussion of the principles, projects and effects of public humanities programming in Michigan. The Council is a state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Guests: Council Executive Director Shelly Kasprzycki of Lansing and Board Member Kel Smyth of Escanaba.

Shoreline Safety
A look at local government efforts to improve waterfront safety, prevent drownings and provide for more timely rescues. Promising measures have been rolled-out in the Marquette area following two detailed studies over the past five years. Guests: U.P.
