Traffic and Production Coordinator

Northern Michigan University is seeking applications for a Traffic and Production Coordinator for WNMU-TV PBS. The position will provide a variety of television production support services for studio, remote and on-air production products. Assist with scheduling, supervising and training crew for studio productions. Create monthly/daily schedules for three, on-air program channels plus creating and editing interstitial material for broadcast. Assist with production of University sports events for broadcast and streaming.

Minimum qualifications: Associate’s Degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Multi-media Systems or related field. One year equivalent work experience in broadcast studio and field production.

Required knowledge/skills/abilities: Ability to operate broadcast equipment: camera, audio board, graphic computer, video switcher, etc. Ability to understand, interpret and create program logs and schedules based on content from the TV Program Manager. Ability to quickly learn to operate new equipment and software, and to teach others. Experience with both Mac and PC systems. Editing experience with Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere. Ability to accurately concentrate on multiple tasks and details and function well under the pressure of daily deadlines. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively and function as a member of a team. Ability to direct the work of others, to communicate work schedules, and to train and evaluate students, volunteers and interns. Ability to work occasional nights and weekends.

The position is grant-funded ending June 30, 2023 (subject to renewal); the schedule is traditionally Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm with occasional evening and weekend work required. The targeted salary range is $38,800-$41,700.
