WNMU-TV is excited to announce that the 46th season of High School Bowl premieres Saturday, November 2 at 8/7c! In the opening game, Gwinn will face off against Watersmeet in what promises to be a battle of wits. Will your favorite team take home the championship title this year? Be sure to follow the season to find out.
As WNMU-TV’s most popular local production, High School Bowl has been a tradition since 1977. For nearly half a century, teams from high schools across Upper Michigan and Northern Wisconsin have gone head-to-head in a thrilling competition of knowledge. From history and science to literature, math, art, and music, contestants answer questions across a wide range of topics, showcasing their academic prowess.
Hosted by Jim Koski, the competition brings together students from nearly 40 schools in a single-elimination tournament spread across 35 games. The winning teams not only earn the title of champion but also receive scholarships awarded by Northern Michigan University—along with serious bragging rights for the year!
This long-standing academic challenge wouldn't be possible without the support of our community. We are grateful for the funding provided by The Donald & Audrey Anderson Foundation, Island Resort & Casino, 14 Upper Peninsula Credit Unions, Vincent & Nora Petrucelli, as well as the collaboration with The Regional Educational Service Agencies & Intermediate School Districts of the Upper Peninsula.
You can catch new episodes of High School Bowl locally every Saturday at 8/7c and Mondays at 3/2c on WNMU-TV PBS (13.1). Additionally, the show is broadcast across the state on the Michigan Learning Channel (13.4). For those who prefer to watch online, full episodes are available on the PBS app and through WNMU-TV’s website.
