High School Bowl Season 2020-21 Cancelled

Email share

Due to COVID-19, the 2020-21 season of High School Bowl has officially been cancelled.

WNMU-TV PBS along with Northern Michigan University has made a huge effort toward having a High School Bowl season this year, including building a brand new set and holding back start dates multiple times. However, it was simply not meant to be.

“It would have been extremely difficult to bring 40 different schools and teams into one location, at the height of a pandemic, and not run a very high risk of spreading the virus,” explains Mike Lakenen, producer of High School Bowl. “For as much as we wanted to start the season, and with all the preparations we made toward that goal, our top priority was always the safety of the students, teachers, staff, and community members, both at Northern Michigan University and across the U.P. and Northern Wisconsin.”

As disappointed as they will be, we believe our viewers will understand our decision is to ensure everyone’s safety. We hope you will join us in once again looking forward to another High School Bowl season next year.
