WNMU Passport is the new Public TV 13 member benefit that provides you with extended access to an on-demand library of quality local and national public television programming. With access to tens of thousands of hours of your favorite programs, WNMU Passport allows you to watch even more episodes of your favorites, including full seasons of many current and past series.

Highlights include every past episode of award-winning MASTERPIECE favorites like Downton Abbey, Victoria, Grantchester and Poldark, and specials like Ken Burns’ THE VIETNAM WAR. You can watch hundreds of hours of NATURE, NOVA, ANTIQUES ROADSHOW, AMERICAN EXPERIENCE, FINDING YOUR ROOTS, THE GREAT BRITISH BAKING SHOW, JAMESTOWN, THE FRENCH CHEF WITH JULIA CHILD, and so much more.

What is WNMU Passport?
WNMU Passport is a new member benefit which provides Public TV 13 Partners extended on-demand access to a rich library of quality public television programming online and via your mobile device or streaming device. Public TV 13 provides WNMU Passport to our Partners with an annual membership of at least $60 or a minimum $5 per month Sustainer donation. WNMU Passport members can also receive our monthly program guide, FanFare, in the mail. Or download FanFare right now on our Downloads page.

Why is WNMU making this service available?
As more and more people are watching television content on demand on computers and digital devices, WNMU Passport gives Public TV 13 Partners a way to enjoy extended access to PBS content on platforms including computers, smartphones and tablets.

How does WNMU Passport align with the mission of public television?
Public TV 13 and PBS content is shared widely with the public on air, online and on mobile devices after a program airs – that has not changed. WNMU Passport goes one step further by offering extended access to additional content for station donors. Certain content, including PBS Kids, locally-produced WNMU-TV programs, news and public affairs programs such as FRONTLINE, PBS NEWSHOUR, INDEPENDENT LENS and POV, will will continue to be freely accessible to everyone.

What kind of content can I find on WNMU Passport?
WNMU Passport includes thousands of hours of programming, representing many genres, including drama, science, history, natural history and the arts. Notable titles include MASTERPIECE series such as Downton Abbey, Victoria, Grantchester and Poldark along with other favorites such as NATURE, GREAT PERFORMANCES, THE GREAT BRITISH BAKING SHOW, THE FRENCH CHEF WITH JULIA CHILD and many more. The WNMU Passport library will continue to grow as more series and episodes are added.

Are locally-produced Public TV 13 programs available in WNMU Passport?
WNMU Passport also includes our Public TV 13 local programs: HIGH SCHOOL BOWL, MEDIA MEET, ASK THE EXPERTS, and some local history documentaries. (Our local programs are freely accessible to anyone at wnmuvideo.nmu.edu or PBS.org — you don’t need a WNMU Passport membership to watch them.)

How can I find content that’s available in WNMU Passport?
To find WNMU Passport content, look for videos with the blue compass icon . Those videos are only available to users who are registered for WNMU Passport. Current Public TV 13 Partners who wish to take advantage of WNMU Passport must activate their account for access. You will be asked to register to confirm your identity and membership status in order to start enjoying WNMU Passport.

Can I access WNMU Passport content on all devices and platforms?
WNMU Passport can be accessed with your web browser on wnmuvideo.nmu.edu and PBS.org, and on the PBS Apps for mobile devices, and on the PBS Channels and Apps on Apple TV, Roku, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV and Android Smart TVs.

Will there still be free streaming on wnmuvtv.nmu.edu and PBS.org?
PBS content will continue to be available for free on PBS.org, on our station website, and on all other digital platforms. Some free content has a limited window of availability after the program airs. Certain content, including PBS Kids, locally-produced WNMU-TV programs, news and public affairs programs such as FRONTLINE, PBS NEWSHOUR, INDEPENDENT LENS and POV, will continue to be freely accessible to everyone. WNMU Passport provides extended access to a rich library of content for WNMU Partners to enjoy.

I’m not seeing my favorite PBS show in WNMU Passport. Why not?
Thousands of hours of content are available via WNMU Passport. This library of content will continue to grow over time as more titles are added.

Who is eligible for WNMU Passport?
WNMU Passport is the newest member benefit available from Public TV 13 for Partners with a yearly contribution of at least $60 or an ongoing monthly contribution of $5 or more. It cannot be purchased separately. Streaming video from WNMU Passport is only available within the United States.

What desktop browser do I need?
WNMU Passport supports the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari.

I cannot afford to donate at this time. Is there a way for me to view this content?
All broadcast content remains available to all viewers on air per our broadcast schedule and will remain online and on mobile apps for at least two weeks and, in some cases, longer. We believe the new arrangement allows for ample viewing of excellent content, albeit for a more limited time for some programs.

Is WNMU Passport available outside the U.S.?
Streaming video from WNMU Passport is only available within the United States.

I am a current Public TV 13 sustainer. How do I access WNMU Passport?
Current Public TV 13 Sustainers are eligible for a WNMU Passport membership. If you shared your email address with WNMU Public TV 13, click here to look up your account and follow the instructions to activate your account. Can I sign up for a WNMU Passport membership with a cash or check donation?
Yes, but new donations via cash or check will take up to 10 business days before receiving access to WNMU Passport. The fastest way to access WNMU Passport is with an online donation with credit or debit card using our special WNMU Passport pledge page.

Can I stop my WNMU Passport access for a few months, and then re-start?
WNMU Passport is available as a member benefit for sustainers who make a commitment to donate at least $60 per year or $5 per month on an ongoing basis. Monthly Sustainer contributions must be ongoing. If you stop your monthly donation, you will lose access to WNMU Passport.

How do I know that my WNMU Passport activation worked?

After you have activated WNMU Passport, when you sign in at PBS.org or wnmuvideo.nmu.edu, you should see a blue Passport compass icon next to your name at the top of the page and you should be able to view Passport-only videos. If you have not received your activation code email from PBS, please check your Spam folder to see if the email is there. If you don’t find the activation email, please go to the PBS Support Page for assistance, or call PBS Support for help: 855-273-9668.
